This is a land in which it is forbidden to hike. We were stopped by an officer of the Turkish National Park service who told us not to enter the area. The terrain makes it impossible to negotiate a trail through these mountains and those who have tried have never returned. It is easy to see the difficulties of travel in this area when you observe from a drone. This is the area of the lost civilization of the Homonadeis. Living high in the Taurus Mountains, the Romans forced the Homonadeis people to retreat to even more remote and inaccessible areas in the Taurus range. Tacitus claims there were forty-four remote settlements in the mountains. Few of them have ever been found.
